20/04/2025 –Hills Offroad RC Club Meeting Race Report

Sunday 20th April club meeting was held being Easter Sunday and the first race meeting post the Pre-Worlds Warm-up event, and 42 very keen entries attended.


Due to the lower numbers, we decided to have a little fun and run five heads-up races with random grid draws each race for all classes and the best 4 results counting for the overall results. And it was a big success with plenty of fun and laughs had by all attendees with this different format to the usual.



Novice/Rung What You Brung

With only 5 entries in total the Novice and RWYB classes were combined to ensure all entrants got a run on the day.


Simon Shaw took the win in Race 1 capitlising starting from 1st. Jaxon McMahon finished 2nd from grid 3 in his first run at Hills. Holden McMahon followed home his brother finishing 3rdfrom grid 4 in his first run at Hills also.


Jaxon McMahon continued his progress to take the win in Race 2 from 2nd on the grid. Simon Shaw took 2nd from 4thon the grid. Husayn Omar rounded out the top 3 after starting from 1st.


Simon Shaw took another win in Race 3 from 4th on the grid. Jaxon McMahon continued his consistent run with another 2ndplace after starting 3rd. Holden McMahon took another 3rdfrom 1st on the grid.


Rylee Hamilton showed some pace after arriving late, to take 1st from grid 5 in Race 4. The ever-consistent Jaxon McMahon finished 2nd after starting from grid 2. Holden McMahon was in good form finishing 3rd from grid 3.


Rylee Hamilton took another win in Race 5 from grid 2. Jaxon McMahon from grid 3 took another 2nd place. Husayn Omar finished 3rdfrom 4th on the grid.


The overall result rewarded Jaxon McMahon’s consistency to take the overall win on 7 points. Simon Shaw finished 2nd overall on 8 points and Holden McMahon took 3rd overall with 13 points for the day.

2wd Stock

With 11 drivers in the race of various skill levels, the racing was always going to favour those drivers with patience and not just speed.


Race 1 saw Scott Hill take the win from grid 5. Scotty Elliot came in 2nd from grid 9 and Robert Smith was 3rd from grid 2.


Scott Hill took another win in Race 2 from grid 3. Glenn Welch took 2nd from grid 9 and Scotty Elliot was 3rd from grid 2.


Race 3 was another win for Scott Hill from grid 3. Glenn Welch took another 2nd place from grid 9 and Scotty Elliot continued his consistent return to dirt with another 3rdplace from grid 2.


Scott Hill capitalised from starting 1st to take his 4th win of the day. Glenn Welch after battling for the lead early, finished 2nd from grid 2. Glen Andrews finished 3rd after starting from 5th on the grid.


Glenn Welch took the final race win from 1st on the grid after a close battle for majority of the race. Scott Hill came across the line in 2nd after starting 2ndand Scotty Elliot finished 3rd from 7th on the grid.


The overall win was taken by Scott Hill with 4 points. Glenn Welch was 2nd for the day with 7 points and Scotty Elliot was 3rd on 11 points.

2wd Modified

With 10 entries running for the day, with a mix of experience to novice levels, new cars to vintage re-releases, this was a race to watch each round.


Lachlan Donnelly took the win in Race 1 from grid 5. Caden Hill finished 2nd from 8th on the grid and Ron Curby finished 3rd from grid 9 enjoying the power of the modified motor.


Lachlan Donnelly took another win in Race 2 from grid 4. Peter Seckold finished 2nd after starting 1st. Caden Hill finished 3rd from 6th on the grid.


Lachlan Donnelly in Race 3 was first across the line from grid 7. Peter Seckold finished 2nd from grid 8. Ron Curby crossed the line in 3rd after starting 1st for the race.


Race 4 saw Lachlan Donnelly take another win from 1ston the grid. Peter Seckold finished 2nd from grid 2. Ron Curby continued his good form finishing 3rd from grid 3.


Lachlan Donnelly took the final win in Race 5 from 1ston the grid. Peter Seckold finished 2nd from 10th on the grid. The ever consistent Ron Curby finished 3rd from grid 2.


Lachlan Donnelly took the overall win on 4 points. Peter Seckold was 2nd on 8 points with Ron Curby 3rd on 12 points.

4th – Caden Hill

5th – Nick Poole

4wd Stock

With only 5 entries running on the day, it would make for an easier run with little traffic to contend with to allow hot laps to be laid down every run.


Glenn Welch started the day with a win in Race 1 from grid 2. Scott Hill came from grid 4 to take 2nd place. Tony Smith finished 3rd from grid 3 with close battles early across all runners.


Scott Hill hit back in Race 2 from grid 3. Tony Smith finished 2nd from 5th on the grid. Rondy Chan crossed the line in 3rd after starting 1st.


Capitlising from starting 1st, Scott Hill ran away with the win in Race 3. Glenn Welch took 2nd from grid 3. Tony Smith finished 3rd from grid 4.


Scott Hill took another runaway win from 1st on the grid in Race 4. Glenn Welch was 2nd again from grid 2. Tony Smith was 3rd after starting from 3rd.


Race 5 saw Scott Hill take another win from grid 4. Glenn Welch was 2nd once again after starting from 5th. Tony Smith continued his consistent run with another 3rd place after starting in 1st.


The overall win was taken by Scott Hill with 4 points. Glenn Welch was 2nd for the day with 7 points and Tony Smith was 3rd on 11 points.


4wd Stock Race Results

4th – Rondy Chan

5th – Howard Crooks

4wd Modified

11 entries with a large difference in pace across the runners, would reward a calculated mix of aggression and control to ensure a good result each race.


Peter Seckold took the win in Race 1 from grid 3. Lachlan Donnelly finished 2nd from 11th on the grid and Caden Hill finished 3rd from grid 7.


Lachlan Donnelly took the win in Race 2 from grid 10. Peter Seckold finished 2nd after starting from 7th. Caden Hill finished a solid 3rd from 3rd on the grid.


Peter Seckold in Race 3 took another win from 8thon the grid. Lachlan Donnelly finished 2nd from grid 11. Andrew Kerek crossed the line in 3rd after starting 2nd for the race.


Race 4 saw Peter Seckold take another win after capitlising from starting 1st on the grid. Lachlan Donnelly finished 2ndfrom grid 2. Caden Hill’s consistency rewarded him with another 3rdplace after starting 10th on the grid.


Lachlan Donnelly took the final win in Race 5 from 4thon the grid. Peter Seckold finished 2nd from 2nd on the grid. Ron Curby finished 3rd from grid 3.


Peter Seckold took the overall win on 5 points. Lachlan Donnelly was 2nd on 6 points with Caden Hill placed 3rd on 15 points.

Our next race day is scheduled for Sunday 4th May being the third round of the 2025 Hills Club Championship. We look forward to having everyone attend and continue to battle it out for the overall championship.
